The Hollies Sing for Spring
Erin Go Braugh

On March 17th thousands of people worldwide celebrate St.Patrick’s Day.
St.Patrick is believed to have been born in Wales but traveled to Ireland to spread the word of Christianity, one famous story is that St.Patrick drove all the snakes from Ireland and to this day there are still no snakes there. He was revered as the Patron Saint of Ireland from the eighth century and his feast day is celebrated on the 17th March which is thought to be the date that he died.

This year The Hollies was treated to some traditional irish dance.
We were entertained during morning assembly by Keeva Morrell (The Hollies), Maisie Ryan (Swallows Hill) and Olivia Hill (Twycross House). First Keeva took to the floor showing us some of her lovely dancing, followed by Maisie and Olivia who danced a heavy jig. The heavy jig is danced with metal toe and heeled shoes so it was quite a noisy dance. The two older girls then changed into their Irish pumps and danced a slip jig. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the dancing and a lot of the children (and teachers) jigged their way out of the assembly hall!
Congratulations to the girls and we all look forward to some more dancing from them next year.

Easter Egg Hunt
On the last Friday of term the Easter Bunny made his annual visit to the Hollies.  Mrs Bostock and I caught sight of him in the school garden, but by the time we got outside all we could see was his little white tail disappearing down the garden path.  He was, however, cheeky enough to leave a message on the white boards in both first year classrooms promising that, if the children had been very good and had worked hard all term, there might be a special treat for them in the garden.  The children assured us that they had been very, very good and so the Great Easter Egg Hunt began.  There were little bags of eggs for all, tied with pink ribbons for the girls and blue for the boys, and the garden echoed with shrieks of excitement whenever a bag was found.  A lovely time was had by all.  Thank you, Easter Bunny.
