On Friday 11th June we were pleased to welcome to school Elaine Hooton, Guide Dog puppy walker. Elaine talked to members of Senior 3 and Senior 4 who were interested to help raise money for the charity as part of their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering section. Elaine brought her latest puppy and a retired Guide Dog who entertained us all as Elaine spoke about the charity. To help raise money for the charity Elaine gave fundraisers a tombola kit with lots of fluffy Guide Dog toy puppies to give as prizes.
Charlotte Smith, Holly Hall and Ellie Clemons took up the challenge and visited Swallows Hill to talk during an assembly about the charity and its work. During each morning break the girls sold tombola tickets to staff and pupils and raised £176.75. Thank you to all for supporting this fundraising venture.
In addition two members of Swallows Hill, Charlotte Heggs and Angus Osborne were so keen to support the charity that they have become individual Guide Dog sponsors. Charlotte commented, ‘Last Thursday Charlotte and Holly came over to Swallows Hill to talk about Guide Dogs. I couldn’t believe how much money they had to raise, so to help I decided to sponsor a Guide Dog for the blind. It was a little labrador crossed with a golden retriever, named Ike. I really hope it helps them raise money to keep Guide Dogs alive.’
